Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is this benjam.org thing all about?
Originally this place is the homepage of me (Benjamin Metz), the computer enthuiast and musician primarily active in the demoscene. Based on the experiences of the past years since I run this website I abandoned the idea that it might be nice to have an »own website with all your music and other productions on it, so that everyone can download your stuff and you can have a bath in fame and glory«.
It just didn't turn out this way.
In the end this website is my digital playground, where I improve my webdesign and webprogramming skills and every now and then I might release a new piece of music I did in my lean spare time.
Ok, but why the heck this stupid artist name »benJam«?!
I got to the nick name »benJam« when I created my first music composed on a computer, which wasn't mine, because I couldn't afford one. Back in 1993 it where the times of MS-DOS with its limited 8.3 filename system.
As I always wanted to keep a backup of the current workfile in case the music program crashed, evaporating all my efforts into digital nirvana, I named my files 'benjam01.mid', 'benjam02.mid' and so on. This is the whole story.
Why are there so few updates/new releases?
Well, with the end of my schooltime society installed some new constitution to my life which they call: work to make a living. Since then my creative output has dropped drastically to the remains you can pick off these pages. Don't expect that to change within the next 30 to 40 years, as this is the time society has planned me to work before I can take short breath and finally kick the bucket.
How can I contact you?
Utilizing my unsurpassable programming skills I made a contact page where you can congregate your muttering and drop it in my mailbox.
